Belgium will once again be hoping for the big win and are already relying on many young players. The mixture of experience and youth should be right this year and with Domenico Tedesco, they also have a coach on the sidelines whose style of play they implement well. The Red Devils also have a bit of luck of the draw and are the heavy favorites to win their group with Romania, Ukraine and Slovakia. Slovakia, on the other hand, are outsiders, but are of course still hoping to advance to the knockout phase. A point win against Belgium would certainly be considered a successful start.

Belgium will arrive with great self-confidence
Domenico Tedesco has been on the sidelines of the Belgian national team since March 2023. He was tasked with driving forward the transition and integrating young players into the team. He has done this extremely well so far. Although the team continues to rely on leading players such as Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Leandro Trossard, more and more young talents are joining them. With Zeno Debast, Arthur Vermeeren, Aster Vranckx, Arne Engels and Johan Bakayoko, there are 5 players in the squad who are 21 years old or younger. In addition, there are some players who made a big impression last year, such as Lois Openda and Jeremy Doku. Slovakia is back at the European Championship finals
While Slovakia last qualified for a World Cup in 2010, they regularly take part in European Championship finals. Since 2016, they have always managed to get through qualifying. They even made it through to the round of 16 at Euro 2016. They failed to do so three years ago and are clearly the underdogs this year too. They will probably be battling with Ukraine and Romania for 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Winning a point in the opening match against the big favorites Belgium would of course be a big advantage.
Slovakia no longer have the squad they had 10 years ago, but they are still very well positioned in defense. With Milan Skriniar and David Hancko, they have two top European defenders. They also have Stanislav Lobotka, a defensive midfielder who is a mainstay at SSC Napoli. Almost two thirds of the entire market value of the squad can therefore be found in the defense. In attack, on the other hand, there is a small hole. The team lacks a genuine top player of international caliber. This has also been evident in recent games. In 2024, they scored just one goal in 2 test matches against Austria and Norway. 22 goals in 16 games under coach Francesco Calzona is also not an outstanding figure. In only 7 of these 16 games did they manage to score more than one goal, 4 times they remained without a goal of their own. Nevertheless, only 4 defeats in 16 games is still respectable, even if the opponents were mostly worse teams.

These two nations have only met three times so far. The duels have usually been very even, even though Slovakia are still waiting for their first win. After 2 draws in 2002 and 2006, Belgium won 2:1 in the last friendly match in 2013. The clash at Euro 2016 will therefore also be the first competitive match between these two national teams. The Red Devils are clearly favored in this group. Both their quality and their current form speak in Belgium's favor. They have also not yet lost a game against Slovakia. A Tip 1 is therefore the logical betting option for us. With odds of just under 1.49, this is well suited for a combination betting slip. Slovakia's offense is probably one of the worst at this Euro.
