AS Saint-Etienne has the momentum on its side

Saint-Etienne spent their 2nd year in Ligue 1 this year and achieved a very strong 3rd place. They also benefited from a change of coach in December last year. With Olivier Dall'Oglio at the helm, their performances visibly improved and they won 12 of their last 21 league games. In the end, they were only 3 points off a direct promotion place. They had to beat Rodez AF in the qualifiers. In their own stadium, however, they celebrated a fairly unchallenged 2:0 victory against them. Is FC Metz's Ligue 1 adventure coming to an end?

FC Metz only managed promotion to Ligue 1 last season after being relegated the year before.
