Liverpool FC remain the clear leaders of the English Premier League ahead of matchday 27. However, 2 of the Reds' last 3 league games have ended in draws and their performances can no longer be compared to those of the fall. However, this is complaining at a very high level, as Liverpool have still not lost a game in the league since September. Their first clash against Newcastle was hugely spectacular with a 3-3 away draw. The Magpies want to win every game and that is how they will perform in Liverpool. They also need the points in the battle for the Champions League places, as they are currently 3 points off Manchester City and 4th place. After 3 defeats from their last 4 games, however, their form is anything but good.

Liverpool still hold all the aces themselves
With 61 points after 26 matchdays, Liverpool are still by far the best team in England. In the last few months of this season, they can only beat themselves. They have only conceded one defeat in the Premier League in the entire season so far and that was at home to Nottingham Forest, who are now also having an outstanding season and are in third place. Liverpool are also almost injury-free and manager Arne Slot practically always has his key players available. But it all depends on Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian is already having a historic season and has 24 goals and 15 assists. This makes him the number 1 in the Premier League in both areas. It is therefore hardly surprising that the Reds have the best offense with 62 goals scored. For the 6th time in a row, they have managed to score at least 2 goals per game. In home games this was even the case 11 times and this in only 12 games. 9 of these games they were able to win, besides the one defeat against Nottingham they had to settle for a draw against Fulham and ManU twice.

The Reds have been conceding a number of goals recently
At the start of the season, Liverpool's great strength was their defense and they had the best defensive line in the Premier League for almost the entire autumn. However, this has changed somewhat in recent weeks. Although 26 goals conceded in 26 league games is still outstandingly good, they are still only number 2 behind Arsenal. In 2025, they only managed to keep a clean sheet in 4 out of 14 games. In the last 3 games, they conceded a total of 3 goals. In the Champions League, they even conceded 3 goals once in a 3:2 defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Newcastle naturally want to return to the Champions League
The Magpies are now one of the teams that have set themselves the target of achieving a Champions League place. After 25 matchdays they are only in 7th place, but the gap to the top 4 is just 3 points. To stay within reach, however, they will have to overcome their minor form crisis. In the Premier League, they have lost 3 of their last 4 games and only managed to win against bottom-placed Southampton. Last weekend's performance against Manchester City (0:4) was probably Newcastle's worst game of the season. Like their opponents, they are also dependent on one player in attack. Alexander Isak is responsible for 17 of Newcastle's 42 goals, making him the league's top scorer behind Salah and Haaland. With only one goal from the last two games, they will have to regenerate quickly. However, they have scored 22 goals in 13 away games alone, which is a very good figure. They have therefore also remained unbeaten in 9 of 13 away games.

The Magpies must hold their own against Liverpool
Newcastle secured a spectacular 3-3 draw in their first clash against Liverpool this season. Now they face the Reds again and will be hoping for their first win since 2015, when they won 2-0 at home. The Magpies have not won at Anfield Road since 1995! However, a positive result would certainly do them good, as they will face Liverpool FC again in mid-March. This clash will be for the EFL Cup title and therefore the first title in 2025.

The league leaders are naturally the favorites in their own stadium against every team in the Premier League. Anything other than a home win would therefore be a surprise. The first clash ended in a spectacular 3-3 draw and we think the visitors will score a goal or two this time too. This is not least due to the fact that Liverpool's defense has not always been solid in recent weeks. In addition to the tip recommendation "Both teams score YES", we would also go for "over 3.5 goals" again.
