Brighton vs. Chelsea can definitely be seen as a top match. Prediction, 14.02.25

The Seagulls also want to win the 2nd duel against the Blues in 2025

Published on 12.02.2025 23:03.

Brighton have dropped off the pace in the Premier League in recent weeks, losing their last two games against Nottingham and Everton. They slipped to 10th place in the table and with 34 points they are already 7 points behind a top 6 place. A win against a top team like Chelsea could therefore do them good. They will also be full of confidence, having beaten the Blues 2-1 in the FA Cup just a few days ago. Chelsea have lost a chance at the title, but are still in a good 4th place in the league and will be looking to defend that against Brighton. However, they lost their last away game 3:1 against Manchester City, but have otherwise performed very well in away games this season.

Brighton aim to redeem themselves in the Premier League

The start under the youngest coach in the Premier League was very promising and many expected Brighton to achieve an international starting place. After 24 matchdays, however, they are only in 10th place and are already 7 points behind a top 6 place in the table. On the last matchday, they suffered a 7-0 defeat at Nottingham Forrest. They were able to celebrate a sense of achievement in the FA Cup. In the 4th round, they faced Chelsea FC of all teams and defeated them 2:1 at home. After a win against Manchester United and a draw against Arsenal FC, they remained unbeaten in their 3rd match against a Big Six team in 2025. The Premier League will now be about slowly working their way back up to the top 6. Of course, a win against a better-placed team would be hugely important for that. The Seagulls will have to improve their defense in particular. Due to the 7-0 defeat, they now only have a negative goal difference of 35:38 goals. No team in the top half of the table conceded more goals. However, this is also due to a number of injuries.

A draw is quickly possible in home games

Brighton are only 13th in the home table. In contrast to other teams, they have only played 11 home games, but their record is not good. They have only won 3 of these 11 home games! However, they were only beaten twice. More than half of all home games ended in a draw. Accordingly, the goal difference is also balanced and stands at 14:14 goals. They have not won any of their last 5 home games, most recently a disappointing 0:1 against Everton FC. Before that, they did manage a 1-1 draw against Arsenal FC.

Chelsea have a clear goal this season

The Blues have not been consistent enough this season to attack the championship, but the clear goal is a top 4 place and thus the Champions League. At the moment, they are in 4th place after 24 matchdays. However, the lead over 7th place is just 3 points, so they cannot afford to slip up. Chelsea have recently returned to good form, losing just one of their last five league games. After two draws against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, they won against Wolverhampton and West Ham United. In between there was a 3:1 away defeat at Manchester City. However, Chelsea are much more consistent than their opponents and also have the 4th best offense in the league. They have scored at least one goal in each of the last 5 matchdays. In general, they only failed to score in 3 out of 24 games. Among other things, they won their first clash against Brighton in the league 4:2.

The Blues need another away win

Chelsea's away record is anything but bad, as they have won 6 out of 12 away games and have only been beaten in 3 games. In addition, they have the 2nd best offense in away games with 25 goals. However, Chelsea have failed to win any of their last 4 away games. In addition to a defeat against Manchester City, they were also beaten by newly promoted Ipswich Town. They have also drawn 2 games against teams from the bottom half of the table.

Two offensively strong teams meet - Our prediction

Brighton won the clash a few days ago, but are still slight underdogs in the league. Chelsea, however, are without a win in 4 away games, which is why we tend to favor a double chance X/2 bet. Both teams are also offensively oriented, which is also reflected in their goal record. You could therefore also play a somewhat risky betting recommendation on over 3.5 goals.
