Will Hansi Flick prevail again in the Clasico?
It will be the third clash between these two heavyweights in the 2024/25 season. The previous two duels were won by FC Barcelona quite clearly with 4:0 and 5:2, which secured them the Supercopa title, among others. In the Spanish La Liga, the Blaugrana are also on course for the title and have a 4-point lead over Real Madrid. For the Whites, the Copa del Rey is their best chance of winning a title this season anyway, as they have already been eliminated from the Champions League. The pressure is therefore more on the royals. Barcelona, on the other hand, still have a chance of winning the treble and would naturally like to win their first final.

Hansi Flick and Barcelona could make history
The German coach did not have an easy start to the season and 6 of the now 7 defeats were conceded in the fall. Since the start of 2025, however, things have been going like clockwork for Barca and they have racked up win after win. With 5 matchdays to go, they now have a 4-point lead over the Whites and the title seems within their grasp. They have also been unbeaten in La Liga since December 2024. They have won all of their last 3 games, before that they drew 1-1 against an in-form Betis Sevilla. Barca are a real force in attack in particular and have already scored 89 goals in 33 games. The two superstars Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha alone have 35 goals between them.

Strong performances in the cup competitions
FC Barcelona have already defeated three strong La Liga teams in the Copa del Rey. In the round of 16, they beat Betis Sevilla 5:1, followed by a 0:5 win away at Valencia FC. In the semi-finals, they faced the third heavyweight in Spain, Atletico Madrid. After a 4:4 draw at home, they won 0:1 away to reach the final. In the Champions League, they made it to the semi-finals after beating Benfica and Dortmund. They scored at least one goal in each of these 4 knockout matches. However, they suffered their only defeat so far in 2025 when they were beaten 3:1 away at Dortmund.

The Whites are certainly not playing a bad season, but expectations are so high that the season so far has to be viewed critically. In the Supercopa, they were clearly beaten by Barcelona in the final, in the league they are 4 points off the lead and in the Champions League, the defending champions have already failed to reach the quarter-finals against Arsenal FC. The Copa del Rey now offers the most realistic chance of winning a title this season. However, their form has been anything but stellar, having lost 3 of their last 6 competitive matches. The 3 wins they have managed to secure in this period have all been narrow 1-0 victories. In the past 6 games, the team has never managed to score more than one goal. In the two quarter-final matches against Arsenal FC, they also conceded a total of 5 goals.
